Notes: Two performances were filmed — the matinee and evening performances on June 9, 1976 — and were edited together for the version that was broadcast. Originally shown in Japan in a version edited to 120 minutes. For unknown reasons, at this performance, Mako performed the slightly abridged version of the opening speech (prior to “The Advantages of Floating in the Middle of the Sea”) that is heard on the original cast recording. In the production, he usually did the longer version of the speech (as it appears in the published script).
