Master’s Note: Nice video of this Ivo van Hove directed JCS production. Some interesting creative choices have been made (both good and bad). The ensemble is without question the star of the show, but Edwin also truly outdoes himself as Pilate and has rightfully won a Musical Award (the Dutch version of a Tony/Olivier) for this part. Amazing performance. Richard, Jules and Stijn give wonderful performances as well, but the biggest surprise of the show for me was Jeangu, who despite not being an actor, put on a truly great performance. There is nothing funny about this productions Herod, who is brutal and to the point. Fantastically played by Alex Klaasen, who in the three minutes he is on stage makes more of an impact than Lucas and Magtel (who both struggle with acting and singing at the same time) put together during the entire show. The video is nice, but there is some camera wandering, partially due to a head at the bottom who occasionally blocks some of the action at the very front of the stage, and my camera has some issues with the lighting. This production also has seats on the stage, I have tried to film the audience members on stage as little as possible. Audio is fed in from an external source. Not For Trade
